About Llewellyne Arden

yoga teacher on lopez island

When it hurts to move, when your range of motion is inhibited, the overall quality of your life goes down.

That is how I found myself on the path of Yoga.

25 years ago, I  was living off the land. I chopped wood, hauled my water and slept in a tipi.

It was only a question of time before my body began to suffer the consequences.

That’s when I met Felicity Green, Senior Iyengar Teacher.

From that moment forward, my life began to change.

Through the integrated practice of Yoga, I became empowered  to heal myself through learning to work with both my body and mind in proactive ways.

"Your body is the only home you have."

The more I learned the more I wanted to know.

I became impassioned. I took workshops, intensives, retreats and teacher trainings with leading teachers in asana, pranayama, yoga philosophy, Sanskrit and meditation.

With this guidance and consistent exploration and practice, I started to see that how I move, breathe, think and act all directly affect the way I experience life, and in turn, how life unfolds depending on my choices.

I became even more curious about how I could use this knowledge to notice my reactions to pain, challenging relationships, negative thoughts, and harmful behaviors and transform these patterns using the tools of yoga.

This, for me, has been a life changer.

It requires dedication and commitment to look deep, to seek the truth, and honor the divine in myself and others.

And that’s exactly what I bring to the table: over twenty years of living, practicing and teaching yoga, not just as a physical practice but as a fierce dedication to looking deeper, seeking truth and honoring the divine within myself and within you.

Straight from the Mat

During my first individual class, I was immediately impressed with Lewlellyne's careful assessment of my condition. She then designed a rehabilitation plan based on her insights and observations of my body in motion and in stillness, taking into account my somewhat chronic patterns of movement. She then built a personalized program, taking into consideration both immediate and long-term practices. Llewellyne is clearly a born teacher. She knows intuitively how to respond, adapt, and create the best path for her students. She is both authentic and committed to the well-being of each person she encounters, always taking into consideration the variety of frailties and stresses we are all going through individually. Those who are blessed to take class with her will indulge in the pure joy of movement.
